	Hydropower on the Green Electricity market
back to home	Hydropower has established itself displaying many advantages as a substantial energy source in many Green Electricity products, due to its extensive production capacity in numerous regions, its regular availability, but mainly for its often very attractive production costs. The graph aside shows the number of Green Power products available containing hydropower, compared to the total number of Green Power products available in various European countries. The share of hydropower in the various products available typically lies somewhere between 50% and 100%. The number of Green Hydropower offers in Switzerland is still below average as the green power market emerged on the basis of solar energy mainly. Still, most newly launched products that are designed to cover 100% of the customer demand with Green Electricity are based on hydropower mainly. One could therefore say that the number of hydropower-based products available in Switzerland is expected to rise in the next few years.
